Uber reaches 1 billion rides milestone in India and South Asia region

Uber's billionth trip was completed today in Benagluru.

Uber completed 10 billion trips globally on June 10, and today the world s largest ridesharing claims to have hit yet another milestone with 1 billion rides in the India and South Asia region. The company reached this milestone within a year of the completing 500 million trips in the same region, which was last year in August. Interestingly for Uber, the one billionth trip took place in India and in the same city where Uber first started its service five years ago, Bengaluru. As per press note, there were seven simultaneous billionth trip running at the same time, other six other trips were – one in Mumbai and two in Hyderabad, three in Delhi. Some of other facts shared by Uber while reaching this 1 billion milestone include a cumulative distance of 11.1 billion kilometers – that s 37 times from earth to the sun and back. Also, out of 670 million rated trips, 480 million were rated 5-star by users.

Other than that, uber shared that its UberPool service so far in the India and South Asia region have helped reduce over 486 million kms travelled, and as a result prevented over 60 million kgs of CO2 emission. Uber had introduced UberPool in the India a year after Uber s launch in India.
